ASL Dictionary of Religious Signs
- Hand Shape:
- "G" (dominant hand, see illustration "Close-up of hand shape" below for a closer look at hand shape), open "B" (stationary hand).
- Hold left hand in open "B" shape in front of body, fingers pointing forward and palm facing to the right. "B" hand remains in same position throughout sign. Begin sign with right "G" hand positioned so that the index finger is pointing at the palm of your left hand. Move hand straight forward away from your body.
- (Mnemonic Note) This motion represents each line in a block of text, like the verses of the Bible.
"Close-up of hand shape" variation 1
- "G" hand may also be held sideways, so the thumb is at the same level as the index finger and thus follows it though the motion, rather than moving parallel below it.
