Many people are afraid of thieves. These people worry that people will break into their homes and steal their possessions. It makes us angry when people take things that do not belong to them. I have friends who have had their televisions, hunting equipment and personal items stolen. Often it is hard to keep thieves out of our homes. Many people use locks or security systems to protect their possessions.
We need to guard the things that we own, but it is even more important that we guard our hearts. Verse 10a of our Bible Reading says, “A thief comes to steal, kill and destroy.” Who is this thief? This thief is the devil. He wants to steal the peace and joy that we have in Jesus.
The devil may try to attack you today. Be prepared! Keep your heart and mind guarded with prayer. God will keep you safe and in His care. — GT
“So Jesus said again, ‘I tell you the truth. I am the gate for the sheep. All the people that came before I came were thieves and robbers. The sheep did not listen to them.’” John 10:7-8
PRAYER: Dear Father, please guard my heart with Your peace and love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
