Summertime (1)Some of my best childhood memories happened during the summertime. For the next few days, I will share some of these memories with you.

I lived across the street from the town swimming pool. I took swimming lessons there, and my best friend, Anne, and I spent most of our summer afternoons in the water.

I loved learning to swim, except for one thing. I was scared to learn how to dive. I can remember standing on the edge of the pool, praying with all my heart. God answered my prayers, and He helped me overcome my fears enough so I could finish my diving classes.

In our Bible Reading today, Joshua faced the scary task of leading the Israelites into a new land. But God spoke to Joshua and encouraged him. “...don’t be scared, because the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (verse 9b). Maybe you are facing a scary job or decision today. Stop and ask God to help you be strong and brave. — JK

“Joshua, you must be strong and brave! You must lead these people so they can take their land. I promised their fathers that I would give them this land.” Joshua 1:6

PRAYER: God, help me to be brave today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
